How I got into coaching… cause that’s important.
The above statement is what as an artist I had been working towards for what feels like f**king forever. Past Me: film school grad, creating content in a void, avoided social media like the plague. I'm sure you’ve all heard someone screaming about the power of TikTok or IG Reals for business growth or whatever, I know I had heard this ad nauseam. Well, I took a chance and thought who better to experiment with this than myself; a relatively unknown creator with no real social media following. I worked tirelessly learning content strategies and got good, really good, then all of a sudden… viral. I had a few of my videos pass 2M and bam, I gained over 25k followers in 4 months…… with over 1.6 M likes and over 15M views. Success right??!?! No. Not entirely…. Now, I wanna be clear these metrics don’t communicate if I had established an effective business at all. They do showcase that I have experiential knowledge in the narrative structure/pacing/ and aesthetic of creating viral content which is great and needed, however, I had all these numbers in vanity metrics but none in monetary returns…. The next steps and struggle to create a sustainable business combined with those content strategies were truly what formed my basis of coaching. For it is the pairing of both, guided by the individual’s definition of fulfillment/success/peace, that opens the gates to creative autonomy and financial stability!
In the midst of my content success and initial business struggle, I had a few friends reach out to me asking for coaching/consultation which I denied at first. I thought it would take away from my own work…..but, I took one client….. and my god did I love it. I found out that my combined knowledge of content marketing/yoga & mindfulness practices/branding/…..everything I have learned as an artist…..was a perfect combo for this work! I truly believe the knowledge that I have gained and implemented can get any individual closer to a life of self-actualization, which I think everyone is capable, and deserving of! This led to me taking a few “Beta” clients for consultation in this facility, and I fell in love. It’s such mutually rewarding work. I can’t think of something I would want to offer the world more than getting individuals closer to a place of total self-autonomy, and financial stability. Seeing that success for others is truly the greatest feeling. To witness an individual expressing their full unique being, while being compensated for that expression, is simply beautiful and it is some of the most rewarding work I have ever done.
As a coach/reflector, I believe my role is to first, listen as effectively as possible… then support whatever your definition of success is, the best I can with the tools I have. This is then filtered through whatever instruction we have determined works best for you! We will utilize validated learning (learning that is measurable) to influence the steps we take so that we are always soundly investing our time. Lastly, I don’t believe a coach should just be a coach, I think they should be someone living what they instruct and that is what makes me confident in what I can offer others.
My approach is basically… a combination of coaching, content strategies, and brand building, but grounded in moral soundness and HAPPINESS/FULFILLMENT. If this speaks to you please click the button below :) Om. -Ryan
